PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine ensuring the sufficient lubrication performance of a piston pin. SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine in which a piston reciprocating in a cylinder is connected to a crankshaft through two or more links, a piston-crank mechanism comprising two or more links is designed that the swinging speed of the links connected to the piston pin to a piston reciprocation axis takes a maximum value in a compression stroke before a compression top dead center. Thereby, the swinging speed of the links connected to the piston pin is monotonously decreased until the maximum value is taken before the compression top dead center and the compression stroke is finished, and the magnitude of the swinging speed of the links in the first half of an expansion stroke is decreased. Therefore, the magnitude of the swinging speed of the links in the first half of the expansion stroke is reduced, so that the sufficient lubrication performance of the piston pin is ensured.
