PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper tray for a printer with a hinge mechanism consisting of a protruded shaft on the side of a printer body and a C-shaped bearing part on the paper tray, preventing the breakage of the C-shaped bearing part due to the opening/closing operation of the paper tray while maintaining simple construction. SOLUTION: The hinge mechanism consists of the protruded shaft 5 formed in a paper feed port of the printer body and the C-shaped bearing part 6 protruded on a paper residing plate 7. The C-shaped bearing part 6 has an approximately circular rib 6e protruded on the base end side of a C-shaped hook 6d. An approximately circular portion around the protruded shaft 5 at the upper end of a casing wall 3a has a space d from the protruded shaft 5 somewhat wider than from the rib 6e and gradually narrower along a direction (an arrowmark C) of opening the paper residing plate 7. When the paper residing plate 7 is turned to be opened, the rib 6e is moved into the space d between the protruded shaft 5 and the casing wall 3a to receive friction force, whereby impact on the C-shaped bearing part 6 is reduced upon stopping the turn of the paper residing plate 7.
