PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a scanning optical system, which guides light beams from a plurality of light sources to a plurality of photoreceptors by using a single rotating polygon mirror, is composed at low cost of a simple structure with a small number of components without using a structure in which the adjustment of accuracy and the design of adjustment jig become difficult. SOLUTION: The plurality of light sources and collimator lenses have their respective light axes arranged in parallel to the optical axis of an optical system and the optical axes of the light sources are set with prescribed distances with the optical axis of the collimator lenses, the light beams from the plurality of light sources are made incident on positions whose subscanning directions orthogonal to a main scanning direction of a single lens which focuses the light beams on the reflection faces of the rotating polygon mirror are different from one another, the light beams are focused on the reflection faces of the rotating polygon mirror with prescribed angles with respect to the optical axis of the optical system corresponding to the incident position on the single lens, and the respective reflected beams are separated from the optical axis of the optical system.
