The method involves associating a state and validity time periods of the state to a function e.g. message alert mode or call alert mode by ringing, vibration or display on a screen, of a mobile terminal, using a user interface (4). The mobile terminal is automatically reconfigured by placing the function in the state associated to the function, during the validity time periods of the associated state. An independent claim is also included for a mobile terminal which is reconfigurable in function of time periods specified by a user of the mobile terminal.
