In casing 4 is an annular recess filled with a primary charge 7 and closed by a thin diaphragm 11. An electric primer 8 for initiating the charge 7 is housed in a bore leading to the recess and connected by wires 5a to electric leads 5 which extend through the motor and emerge from the nozzle. A second bore 9 is used to introduce the charge 7 and is closed by a threaded plug 10 which can be removed for inspection purposes. Bore 9 extends longitudinally of the casing 4. Casing 4 may be made of light alloy and the diaphragm of aluminium or aluminium alloy. Diaphragm 11 may be glued in position. After inserting the primer 8, the front of the casing may be waterproofed, e.g. with a rubber solution.
