PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rental locker system which allows the user to unlock a locker box by using an IC card, wherein the locker system can improve the convenience thereof by allowing the user to take out luggage even if an abnormality occurs at a card reader. SOLUTION: When the user uses the locker system, the user opens a locker door 2a to house the luggage therein, and operates a locking switch 23, followed by holding the IC card Cd over a concentrated control unit 1, whereby the centralized control unit 1 reads an ID code from the IC card Cd by means of the card reader 1c and performs deposit processing. Then a private code which is a coded ID code is printed and output by a printer 1a. When the user takes out the luggage, the card reader 1c is checked whether abnormality occurs or not, and if abnormality does not occur, the ID code is read out by the card reader 1c, to thereby carry out take-out processing. On the other hand if abnormality has occurred, the ID code printed on the IC card Cd is input from an operation display section 1b1, and the take-out processing is carried out.
