PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition capable of practically attaining characteristics required for inner coated film for can lid in high level, such as processability, corrosion resistance, openability and adhesion. SOLUTION: The aqueous coating composition comprises (A) an aqueous dispersion of resin obtained by dispersing (A1) a self-emulsifying bisphenol type epoxy resin in the presence of an amine or ammonia and (B) an aqueous dispersion of resin (B) obtained by carrying out a radical polymerization of (B1) an ethylenic unsaturated monomer in the presence of (B2) an emulsifying agent, wherein the composition contains the components in the ratio of (A)/(B)=60/40-99/1 (weight ratio of solid content).
