PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method of measuring surface state of tooted belt tooth surface which has less errors for value of measurement of friction factor and moreover is capable of detecting advantage by material property and surface state of toothed belt tooth surface. SOLUTION: The method is to measure surface state of the toothed belt tooth surface which includes a plurality of tooth parts 10 disposed along longitudinal direction and a back part 12 imbedding a core wire 13 and which is provided with the tooth parts 10 and a tooth groove 11 which are alternatively lined up in direction of belt length with equi-pitch. The method which measures the surface state of toothed belt and the toothed belt tooth surface made of urethane calculates the friction factor from frictional force of the belt tooth surface in superimposed condition by mutually opposing belt tooth of identical belt and fitting the tooth parts 10 in the opposing tooth groove 11 and then moving the tooth part 10 along the tooth groove 11 and measuring tensile force of moved direction.
