PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter having a small projected area and a large filtration area. SOLUTION: Fig.5 is a development of a filter medium. A broken line shows a folding line for a mountain fold and an alternate long and short dash line shows a folding line for a valley fold in Fig.5, The filter medium having folding lines thus arranged is folded along folding lines and the outermost surfaces appearing when the filter medium is folded up are stuck to each other to obtain a cylindrical or truncated cone-like filter. Since one end of the obtained filter in the axis direction is plugged by the filter medium, the filtration area of the obtained filter can be made larger than that of a cylindrical filter obtained only by rolling up a rectangular filter medium.
