PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent intrusion of earth and sand or the like into an axle insertion hole without increase of the number of parts and weight of a traveling body. SOLUTION: The construction machine is constituted such that the axle 10 of a car body is slidably inserted to the axle insertion hole 11 of a crawler frame 6, and vehicle width can be expandably/contractably changed by moving the crawler frame 6 in a vehicle width direction. A step 14 for getting on/off is mounted to an outer surface of the crawler frame 6 in such a state that it covers the approximately lower half part of an opening 11a of the axle insertion hole 11 such that earth and sand, rock, broken up scrap or the like neither intrude from the opening 11a into the axle insertion hole 11 nor collide with a neighborhood of the opening 11a.
