The invention relates to a system for setting precious stones using elastomer and pressure. The inventive system consists of a lathe comprising a male part (2) which forms a piston and a female part (6) comprising a housing which is positioned opposite the end of the piston (2) and which is filled with elastomer material. According to the invention, a stone (3) is disposed on a sheet (4) of precious metal which is inserted into the upper opening of the housing, the piston (2) is operated and the sheet (4) adapts to the outer periphery of the stone (3), thereby eliminating the air contained therebetween.
