<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a belt fixing device having a belt meandering control mechanism and capable of preventing the damage of a belt itself or a belt detection means even if the reciprocation of the belt in a fixed range is impossible because a belt meandering reciprocating condition is spoiled. <P>SOLUTION: In the fixing device, an image is thermally fixed by making recording material pass through a nip part. When the meandering of the belt is detected by a meandering detection sensor in the midst of image forming processing, the image forming processing is temporarily interrupted and the belt meandering moving motion is controlled in a state where the belt is separated by an attaching/detaching mechanism. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
