PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an e-mail transmission source to reliably transmit e-mail to a transmission destination without considering system restrictions of the transmission destination when the e-mail is transmitted. SOLUTION: The mail system comprises a system environment retaining section 26 for holding system environment information of the transmission destination; a mail processor 27 for processing the e-mail data included in the e-mail to be transmitted from the transmission source in such a way that the e-mail can fulfill the requirements for reception by the transmission destination, based on the system environment information held in the system environment retaining section 26; and an e-mail transmission section 22 for transmitting the email thus processed.
