<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording method by which increase of jitter in a phase change optical recording medium can be suppressed with no extreme decrease in the crystallization speed of a recording layer when the medium is overwritten at a high linear velocity. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical recording method for forming amorphous recording marks in the recording layer to an optical recording medium having the phase change recording layer, when the minimum signal has a length of S<SB>L</SB>, and when the minimum recorded mark corresponding to the minimum signal has its maximum width of M<SB>W</SB>, E<SB>W</SB>is 0.1 M<SB>W</SB>; the position on the leading edge side of the recorded mark at the width of E<SB>W</SB>is designated effective leading edge; and the position on the trailing edge side of the recorded mark at the width of E<SB>W</SB>is designated effective trailing edge; the distance between the effective leading edge and the effective trailing edge is designated effective length M<SB>L</SB>; and the distance between the effective leading edge and the position at which the width starts to decrease on the trailing edge side is designated W<SB>L</SB>, the minimum recorded mark is formed so that relation of 0.1≤W<SB>L</SB>/M<SB>L</SB>≤0.7 is satisfied in the entire region of the recording layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
