<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precursor material which can be profitably used for obtaining a superconductor prepared by an oxide powder in tube (OPIT) method. <P>SOLUTION: The precursor material for the preparation of the superconductor based on Bi<SB>2</SB>Sr<SB>2</SB>Ca<SB>1</SB>Cu<SB>2</SB>O<SB>8+δ</SB>wherein the precursor material is as close to equilibrium state as possible, i.e., has less than 5% in average 2201 intergrowths in the 2212 phase. The precursor material is converted to the final conductor by partial melt processing, and has a compositional formula: Bi<SB>2+x</SB>Sr<SB>2-y</SB>Ca<SB>1-z</SB>Cu<SB>2</SB>O<SB>8+δ</SB>, wherein -0.1≤x≤0.4; -0.1≤y≤1.6; -0.4≤z≤0.2; and x+y+z=0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
