The rail has a guide section (14) which is circular in a section perpendicular to a longitudinal axis, where a bar (16) is attached to the guide section. A clamping collar is provided at an end of the rail, and is implemented as an extension of the bar, where the rail is made of metal or plastic. The profile of the rail adapts to the profile of a retainer in a cursor, where the retainer receives an adapter. An independent claim is also included for a component assembly comprising a guide rail.
