PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunction of an engine braking condition caused by range determination by detecting a command signal to an intermediate range between a running range and a low speed side range, and arranging a means which prevents switching to the low speed side range when the detector does not detect the intermediate range. SOLUTION: Ranges are arranged sequentially from a high speed side to a low speed side in a shifting device. For instance, five shifting position switches 90 to 94, are arranged correspondingly to positions P, R, N, 3, 2 in order to electrically sense the range positions. A signal of each range is output according to operation conditions of the switches. Fail occurs when an intermediate range sensing means does not sense an intermediate range between the present range and the commanded range. In such a case, range switching is prevented by a range switching preventive means. Unexpected generation of engine braking is thus prevented. |
