<p>Method for increasing the limiting viscosity of polyesters by solid phase polymerization comprises granulating the polyester melt at a temperature slightly below its melting point and feeding it immediately after granulation to a heat treatment tank (13) so that the residual heat in it can be utilized. An independent claim is included for apparatus for carrying out the method with heat treatment tank which is unheated, insulated or fitted with a heater (15') in its walls and which is connected directly to the granulator by a conveyor (11).</p> |
