<p>An apparatus 10 for removing a coating from glass comprises a vessel 12, an inlet 14 to the vessel 12, a feeder for conveying coated glass into the vessel 12 through the inlet 14, at least one nozzle 42 for supplying a flow of blast medium into the vessel 12, a first outlet 54 from the vessel 12 through which removed coating, spent blast medium and glass fines are able to pass, and a second outlet 64 from the vessel for the glass. The vessel 12 is rotated about a central axis 16 which is inclined by 5-30{ to the horizontal. A circular drive wheel 28 and 30 is disposed at each end of the vessel 12, with each drive wheel 28 and 30 being supported on rollers at least one of which is driven. The apparatus can be used to remove a phosphor coating from the inside surface of a cathode ray tube and a painted lead and graphite coating from the inside surface of a funnel of a CRT.</p> |
