A load carrier of the type having at least one wheel at one end and a handle at an opposing end adapted for moving up and down stairs comprising an adjustable traction member 4 serving to assist in moving the load carrier up and down stairs which hinges from a stowed position to a deployed position and a support stay 6 for holding the adjustable member in the deployed position which hinges relative to both the load carrier and the adjustable support and slides relative to at least one of them as it is moved from its stowed position to its deployed position. The load carrier may be a suitcase or a trolley adapted to carry a suitcase. In another embodiment (not shown), a load carrier comprises an energy store adapted to store energy derived from downward movement of the load carrier and to use it to assist in upwards movement of the same. |
