<p>Production of welded large pipes in the form of screw-threaded pipes made from hot rolled steel having a 400-3050 mm outer diameter and a wall thickness of 5-30 mm comprises decoiling the hot strip, joining the beginning of the strip with the beginning of a precursor strip, aligning the hot strip on a plane in the longitudinal direction, ultrasound-testing the whole surface of the hot strip including edge zone testing of the strip edge regions, processing the strip edges, pre-bending the strip edges, deforming the hot strip to form a perforated screw-threaded pipe, welding the strip edges from the inner and outer side of the pipe using a laser, online-diagnosing the welding process, measuring the pipe diameter, acquiring the profile of the seam formation, acquiring and evaluating errors of the inside of the pipe, and ultrasound-testing of the welding seam. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the process.</p> |
