Displacements of the electrode along trajectories, programmed based on machining profile, are controlled. The electrode is held in a machining position on the trajectory based on a voltage between the end and wall, compared to a threshold voltage, to machine the zone. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a spark erosion machining device for machining a zone of a metallic wall of a part. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for machining a zone of a metallic wall of a part (claimed) in a hostile environment such as nuclear reactor to take samples or test pieces for periodically controlling certain characteristics of the metallic parts to know its behavior in the prolonged radiation and its rate of embrittlement. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The method is applied to all installations in a hostile environment in which the remote machining of metallic part should be carried out. The method can be directly implemented on operation sites, without requiring any specific and encumbering installations.
