A fluorescent lamp is disclosed which includes a lamp tube (1), an electronic ballast (2), and an outer tube (3) that has two ends with outer plugs (5), for respectively plugging into two lamp tube sockets (4). The electronic ballast (2) is located between one of the outer plugs (5) and the respective lamp tube socket (4), where the lamp tube (1) is located between the two lamp tube sockets (4) in the outer tube (3). The electronic ballast (2) of the lamp tube (1) includes a rectifier (10) and a high frequency inverter (20). An input of the rectifier (10) is connected to an external power supply. The rectifier (10) inverts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) with a required voltage, and the output of the rectifier (10) is connected to the high frequency inverter (20), where the high frequency inverter (20) inverts direct current (DC) into high frequency alternating current (AC) for supplying electrical power to said lamp.
