Production of high purity propylene comprises: dimerization of ethylene in an effluent basically made up of butylene-1; hydro-isomerization of butylene-1 present in the effluent to produce an effluent rich in butylene-2; and metathesis with ethylene of the butenes-2 from the effluent rich in butylenes-2 to produce high purity propylene.
