A ROTARY SWITCH IN WHICH A COMMON PATTERN (9), AN A-PHASE PATTERN (10), AND A B-PHASE PATTERN (11) ARE PROVIDED AT THE INSIDE BOTTOM SURFACE OF A WAFER (1), AND A CLICK BUMPY PORTION (6) IS FORMED AT THE LOWER PORTION OF A CYLINDRICAL MEMBER (5) FORMED UPRIGHT AROUND THE OPENING. A ROTOR (2) IS ROTATABLY SUPPORTED AT THE UPPER PORTION OF THE CYLINDRICAL MEMBER (5). A PAIR OF SLIDING ELEMENTS (16, 17) ARE CAULKED AND AFFIXED TO THE LOWER SURFACE OF A RETAINING PORTION (14) INTEGRALLY FORMED WITH THE ROTOR (2). THE CONTACTS FORMED AT BOTH ENDS OF EACH SLIDING ELEMENT SLIDABLY CONTACT THE COMMON PATTERN (9), THE A-PHASE PATTERN (10), AND THE B-PHASE PATTERN (11). BOTH ENDS OF A CLICK SPRING (15) FORMED BY SHAPING A ROD WIRE ARE RETAINED AT THE LOWER SURFACE OF THE RETAINING PORTION (14), AND A PROTRUSION (15A) FORMED AT THE CENTER OF THE CLICK SPRING (15) SLIDABLY CONTACTS THE BUMPY PORTION (6). THE ROTARY SWITCH OF THE INVENTION IS CAPABLE OF SAVING SPACE WHEN SETTING THE CLICK MECHANISM, AND THE OUTSIDE DIMENSIONS THEREOF ARE REDUCED.(FIG. 4)
