PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear capable of reducing torsional vibration and noise in driving by making constant a stress acting on a tooth flank and manufacturable at low cost by using inexpensive molds, and a copying machine using the gear and an imaging device using the gear. SOLUTION: This gear comprises flat surface parts or recessed surface parts 3 and 4 partly at the dedendum thereof having teeth formed on the outer periphery thereof, and is so formed as to distribute a stress acting on the tooth flank 2 thereof according to the number of the engaged teeth engaged with the teeth of a mating gear having a similar flat surface parts and recessed surface parts. In this case, one ridge lines 3a and 4a of the flat surface parts or the recessed surface parts are formed on a same flat plane as the side surface part of the gear. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
