PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone communication system by which occurrence of a speech using a handsfree device (namely, a speech while executing other work such as driving of a car) can be prevented or reduced in a speech by a portable telephone. SOLUTION: The connection state of the handsfree device 110 to the portable telephone 11 is held by transmitting it to an exchange 15. When the portable telephone 11 is called, the connection state of the handsfree device 110 to the portable telephone 11 is confirmed. When the portable telephone 11 is in a state of using the handsfree device 110, the call origination side is notified by the system of the state that the portable telephone 11 uses the handsfree device 110 before the setting of a connection between the call origination side and the portable telephone 11.
