摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake resisting joint structure of a box culvert capable of exhibiting very good vibration absorbing action and cut-off action in case of earthquake. SOLUTION: The joint structure of the box culvert is so constituted that a connecting projection section 3 is circumferentially provided to butting opening circumferential edge section of one end section 1 of a pipe body A, an engaging bearing section 4 engagedly supporting the connecting projection section 3 is circumferentially provided to the butting opening circumferential edge section of the other end section 1, the outside circumferential surface of the connecting projection section 3 is formed in a tapered surface 3A inclining the outside circumferential surface of the connecting projection section 3 in the joint direction, at the same time, the inside circumferential surface of the engaging bearing section 4 is formed in a bearing tapered surface 4A supporting the tapered surface 3A, an elastically deformable cushion material 5 intervenes between the tapered surface 3A and the bearing tapered surface 4A, the cushion material 5 is in a compressively deformed state between the butting tapered surface 3A and the bearing tapered surface 4A when the cushion material 5 jointly connects both end sections 1 through a connecting mechanism 2 and a vibration allowable gap 6 is held between the tapered surface 3A and the bearing tapered surface 4A without making a taper press-contact of the tapered surface 3A with the bearing tapered surface 4A by intervention of the cushion material 5.
