摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current polarity detection and determination method of a series multiple matrix converter that can collectively perform the detection and the determination of current polarity by aggregating them to a controller, can prevent the erroneous wiring of wiring work, is low in cost, and simple in constitution, and its device. SOLUTION: In the series multiple matrix converter, when current detectors 122 to 124 detect three-phase output currents fed to a load-side AC motor 138, values of the output currents obtained by the current detectors are transmitted to the controller 137 via hard signals 125 to 127. After the detected values of the current detectors 122 to 124 are obtained by the controller 137, a time for which polarities of the output currents are changed is determined from the obtained detected values by a current polarity detection and determination circuit 151, and the on/off-timing of a bidirectional switch is transmitted to each single-phase matrix converter device 112 to 120 from the controller 137 through transmission paths 128 to 136 on the basis of the determination.
