PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-sided image reading apparatus capable of realizing cost reduction and miniaturization of the apparatus. SOLUTION: This document feeding device has a pickup roller 10 for feeding an original, a U-turn path 14 where the fed document is conveyed, a reversing path 32 branched from the U-turn path 14, a first document edge sensor 8 arranged in the U-turn path 14 to detect the document, a second document edge sensor 29 arranged in the reversing path 32 to detect the document, and a photodetector 46 for detecting the operation of the first and second sensors 8, 29.
