<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a user who performs a variety of input operations on an electronic device by means of an input device from being forced to assume an uncomfortable attitude and to reduce the size and manufacturing cost of the electronic device. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic device has a pressure-sensitive touch panel which, when pressed at a plurality of positions at the same time, outputs data indicative of the plurality of positions pressed, and an input device for providing input to the touch panel. At least three magnetic sensors are provided in different positions along the outer edge of the touch panel, and the input device is provided with a magnetic field generating part. Further, the electronic device is provided with a determining means for determining the direction that the input device indicates, by analyzing the strength or direction of a magnetic field detected by each of the magnetic sensors, and a specifying means for specifying the position closest to the indicated direction as the position pressed by the input device, among the plurality of pressed positions indicated by the data outputted from the pressure-sensitive touch panel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
