<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input device capable of switching, in real time and without any special switching operation, between a first mode in which a first indicator is used having a detection function for detecting whether or not there is contact between a tip and an input screen and a second mode in which a second indicator without the detection function of the first indicator is used, the coordinate input device not reducing the accuracy of position input when switching between the modes. <P>SOLUTION: In the coordinate input device, a control unit 102 samples a pen switch signal from a pen equipped with a tip switch, detects changes in the operating state of the indicator according to changes in the distribution of light intensity detected and, based on the pen switch signal from the pen and on changes in the operating state of the indicator, selectively and automatically switches the coordinate input device between a pen mode in which the pen is used and a finger mode in which either a normal pen or the user's finger is used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
