PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce generation of a collision sound by a collision between a second vane and a second roller, when switching to a second operation mode from a first operation mode, in a multi-cylinder rotary compressor usable by switching the first operation mode of allowing first and second rotary compression elements to perform compression work and the second operation mode of allowing only the first rotary compression element to substantially perform the compression work. SOLUTION: When switching to the second operation mode from the first operation mode, pressure in a back pressure chamber 72A of the second vane 52, is delivered to the low pressure chamber side in a second cylinder 40.
