METHOD OF MEASURING AND MANAGING SEDIMENTATION SEPARATION OPERATION AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

[PROBLEMS] To provide a method and apparatus for measuring and managing operating conditions in sedimentation operation. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A stationary sedimentation container is charged with a set amount of solid/liquid mixture prior to entry in a sedimentation tank. After allowing the mixture to stand still for a set period of time, liquid drainage is carried out while maintaining a relative position of sludge interface level and liquid surface level of the stationary sedimentation container. The SS or turbidity of effluent and drainage elapsed-time during drainage are measured by the use of SS or turbidity measuring means fitted to drainage line. The time for passage of sedimented sludge interface is detected from the measurement values, and the volume of sedimented sludge is computed. Simultaneously, the turbidity of supernatant liquid phase is measured from the measurement values after passage of sedimented sludge interface.
