<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ink composition which is capable of forming ink particles (charged particles) having a narrow particle diameter distribution of a mean particle diameter of 0.8 to 2 μm, contains a colorant fully coated with a coating agent, and allows the surface of each particle to be sufficiently charged in charging ink particles and to have a charge not changing and remaining stable with the lapse of time. <P>SOLUTION: The method is one comprising the successive steps of melt-kneading a colorant and a coating agent, dry-grinding the mixture, and wet-dispersing the ground product in a dispersion medium and used for producing an ink composition containing charged particles containing at least the colorant and the coating agent, wherein the step of melt kneading is carried out in the presence of a solvent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
