<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control occurrence of scumming without inviting other inconveniences by enabling precisely a color of scumming to be judged on a controlling method and an apparatus for detecting the scumming of printed matter and a method and an apparatus for controlling the press for controlling occurrence of the scumming of the printed matter. <P>SOLUTION: Actual mixed color densities I, R, G, B of ink scumming of a non-image area of the printed matter are measured by using an IRGB densitometer 1. Actual color dot percentages k, c, m, y of respective ink colors corresponding to actual color mixture dot densities I, R, G, B are determined from a corresponding relation between a dot percentage and a color mixture net density. When there is an ink color the dot percentage of which exceeds the threshold by comparing the actual dot area of those respective ink colors, the scumming of the ink color exceeding the threshold is judged to exist, and a dampening water amount is adjusted by controlling a dampening water feeder 70. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
