PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately register the printing position of a recording head in a comparatively short time without decreasing the detection accuracy, and in addition, to perform registering in the outward trip and the homeward trip in a serial printer and so forth. SOLUTION: A registration correcting value setting section 68D calculates a shifting amount of the discharging position on the outward trip and the homeward trip based on data which indicates a critical discharging position acquired by a critical discharging position operation section 68C.
