PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a banding phenomenon of a line head type printer in which a large number of nozzles are arranged in the width direction of a print sheet to constitute a nozzle line and two nozzle lines are provided in the print scanning direction. SOLUTION: Ink dots of the same color are outputted from two nozzles to the same position, positional shift from an ideal impact position of the ink dot outputted from each nozzle is stored and ink dots from two nozzles are overprinted on the same position while employing the reciprocal of the ratio of positional shift of respective ink dots as a weight and employing the average weighting value of requested gray level of a remarked pixel as the requested gray level to each nozzle, i.e. as the ink dot output command value. The banding phenomenon is reduced effectively while sustaining visual characteristics in a predetermined range by selecting a case of overprinting, a case of outputting an ink drop only from one nozzle, or a case of outputting an ink drop only from the other nozzle in random number.
