PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storable duration improving composition for food, enabling eating without spoiling flavor of the food in the case of adding organic acids as a compound useful as a storable duration improving agent to a food material, and efficiently suppressing putrefaction and deterioration of a food material caused by each kind of bacterium, to provide a storable duration improving method and to provide a germicidal/antibacterial agent to be used for sanitation in a food factory or in a kitchen. SOLUTION: This storable duration improving composition contains, as antibacterial active ingredients, organic acids, and acetone extract of at least one kind of wood selected from Tabebuia Sp. wood and Tectona grandis wood. The storable duration improving method comprises separately or simultaneously adding each antibacterial active ingredient to a food material.
