The subject of the invention is a process for the preparation of a product for the physical and/or chemical fertilisation of soils from oxidising slag from haematite pig iron (cast iron) resulting from a steelworks convertor, in which: - the molten slag from the convertor is poured into a treatment vessel, - a phosphorus-containing compound is progressively added to the molten slag and is reacted while keeping the mixture molten by the introduction of an amount of energy, - the mixture is cooled, - the said solidified mixture is ground in order to obtain the product in the powder form.
