PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion water generator for controlling a pH based on correct detection of the amount of carbonates that are a water quality component affecting the pH without carrying out complicated work such as a titration test or the like and with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The ion water generator having an inflow port in which raw water flows, at least a pair of electrodes, a power source for applying an electric current to the electrode, and a discharge port through which water passing between electrodes is discharged, and generating alkaline water and acid water by applying the electric current between the electrodes comprises a conductivity sensor for measuring conductivity of water after passing between the electrodes, wherein the electric current having a plurality of current values is applied between the electrodes, after each conductivity of the acid water at that time is detected, the current value in which the conductivity of the acid water becomes minimum is determined, and the alkaline water and/or the acid water is generated based on the current value in which the conductivity of the acid water becomes minimum.
