PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the amount of carbonates that are a water quality component affecting a pH without carrying out complicated work such as a titration test or the like, and calculate a pH without using a pH sensor or the like, with a simple configuration and having high accuracy. SOLUTION: The ion water generator having an inflow port in which raw water flows, at least a pair of electrodes, a power source for applying an electric current to the electrode, and a discharge port through which water passing between electrodes is discharged, and generating alkaline water and acid water by applying the electric current between the electrodes comprises a conductivity sensor for measuring conductivity of water after passing between the electrodes and control means, wherein the control means applies the electric current having a plurality of current values between the electrodes, after each conductivity of the acid water at that time is detected, the current value in which the conductivity of the acid water becomes minimum is determined, and a pH of the alkaline water and/or the acid water to be generated is calculated based on the current value in which the conductivity of the acid water becomes minimum.
