PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the elastic modulus of the arterial wall stable per heat beat by correcting the blood pressure values for computing the elastic modulus of the arterial wall measured with the ultrasonic waves from the changing rate per hear beat in the variance of the diameter of the artery measured by the ultrasonic waves by utilizing the very high correlation between the changing rate in the difference between the maximum blood pressure value (systolic pressure) and the minimum blood pressure value (diastolic pressure) and that in the variance of the diameter of the artery. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a distortion measuring part 5 for measuring the degree of distortion of the arterial wall within the biomedical tissue, a hemomanometer 8 for measuring changing values of the blood pressure within the artery per heart beat and an elastic modulus computing part 7 for calculating the elastic modulus of the arterial wall. Moreover, it has a blood pressure correction part 8 for correcting the changing values of the blood pressure within the artery based on the variance of the diameter of the artery per heart beat. Thus, the blood pressure value for computing the elastic modulus of the arterial wall is corrected from the changing rate per heart beat in the variance of the diameter of the artery measured by the ultrasonic waves utilizing the very high correlation between the changing rate in difference between the maximum blood pressure value and the minimum blood pressure value and that in variance of the diameter of the artery, thereby determining the elastic modulus of the arterial wall stable per heart beat.
