An ion exchange resin is dried by adding to the water-laden resin sufficient of a halogenated hydrocarbon to form an azeotrope with the water and then distilling off at a temperature at or above the azeotrope boiling point the azeotrope into a heated atmosphere. The ion exchange resin may be a sulphonated styrenedivinyl benzene copolymer which may be neutralized with an alkali metal hydroxide or carbonate. The halogenated hydrocarbon may be trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene; 1,1,1-or 1,1,2-trichloroethane; 1,1,1,2- or 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane; carbon tetrachloride; ethylene or propylene dichloride; chloroform and/or 1,2,3-trichloropropane. |
