The system has an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) passage (25) for passage of exhaust gas between an exhaust system and an intake system. The passage has a reheating branch, a cooling branch and a branch without thermal processing. The reheating branch has a heating unit upstream an oxidation catalyst. Another passage (28) connects an exhaust pipe (19) to an injector (30) of the passage (25) to perform fuel injection. An independent claim is also included for an exhaust gas recirculation method using an exhaust gas recirculation system.
