<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source element of uniform brightness without forming an optical pattern in the corner part end face of a photoconductor even when a point-like light source, such as an LED, etc. is used and to provide an image display device using it. <P>SOLUTION: The corner part end face in the photoconductor 1 in which a pair of perpendicular angles at least are opposed is set so that the direction of the normal of the corner part end face 1A of one of these may differ from the direction of the normal of the corner part end face 1B of another side. Thereby, since the emitting region of the photoconductor 1 by at least one point-like light source A can be shifted with the emitting region of the photoconductor 1, it becomes possible to set as emitting region which covers the whole photoconductor 1. The surface light source element of the uniform brightness within the surface can be obtained without forming an optical pattern in the corner part end face of the photoconductor, like a conventional art. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
