PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve abrasion resistance even under the environment of chlorofluorocarbon or the like so as to elongate the lifespan, to improve the efficiency of a freezer or a refrigerator, to elongate the lifespan of the freezer or the refrigerator, and to compact more the freezer or the refrigerator. SOLUTION: An rolling bearing 20 used in the freezer which employs chlorofluorocarbon as a refrigerant, comprises race rings and a rolling element. At least one of the race rings is formed of alloy steel containing 0.3 to 0.6% by weight of C, not less than 0.5% by weight and less than 1.8% by weight of Cr, 0.3 to 1.5% by weight of Si, 0.3 to 1.7% by weight of Mn, not more than 3.0% by weight of Mo, 9 ppm or less of O, the remainder Fe, and inevitable impurities. The race ring includes a finished-product surface layer section formed with fine carbide obtained by carbonitriding heat treatment, quenching and tempering at a high temperature of 240 to 550°C, and the average residual austenite quantity is set at 3 or less vol.%.
