PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a modified cross-section fiber that has not only gloss and touch with a high-class feeling extremely close to those of natural silk but also improved lightness, bulkiness, whiteness, light screening property and heat retaining property, excellent durability of fine voids so that the fiber has excellent passage of production process of product and durability of product. SOLUTION: The modified cross-section fiber having excellent lightness is a fiber which is obtained by blending two mutually incompatible components of a polymer A and a polymer B, has a modified cross section of a fiber cross section, a great number of fine voids discontinuous in the fiber-axis direction in the inside of a fiber and the average diameter d1 of fine voids included in a space between the circumscribed circle and the inscribed circle and the average diameter d2 of fine voids included in the inside of the inscribed circle satisfy formula d2/d1≥1.30 in a fiber cross section and the apparent specific gravity of the fiber is≤the specific gravity of the polymer A×0.9.
