<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for driving a flat display panel capable of driving a flat display panel with a low power consumption without damaging a picture quality by reducing the deviation of brightness between lines while minimizing the discharge current that has no effective contribution to the emission of light through the drive of a flat display panel such as organic EL. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for driving flat display panel comprises a current reference producing device which produces a driving current reference value for supplying a data driving current according to the size of input data from the outside and a charging or discharging current reference value according to the difference of data size at each of a large number of scan lines and a data driver output part which supplies a current corresponding to each current reference value directly to the display panel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
