PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem requiring double management of an electronic document and an image data, when storing the image data having an identical content as a different file in spite of the electronic document having already been stored in a document management server. SOLUTION: A document management system, which is constituted of the document management server and an image forming apparatus connectable to the document management server, includes a display means for displaying a selected document and a version thereof among the documents and versions managed by the document management server, a scan set means for scan setting, a reception means for receiving a print image from the document management server, an extraction means for extracting difference information from the print image and the scan image, respectively, and a storage means for storing the difference information extracted in the extraction means into the document management system.
